Spectacular pictures! Apart from woodooism and mystification - "Lumpen" is a German word - why does it occurr in this context. Can you tell me?

Thank you very much for your comment. Lumpen Orientalism is a term suggested by China Miéville. It typifies the idea of the orient, especially the Middle East, as the land of exotic and mystery, or the 'common' exoticness that people anticipate from the orient. Lumpen Orientalism can also refer to an emerging strain of orientalism: the Middle Eastern-based artist or intellectual as the new orientalist insider who reduces every interaction to the well-worn 'discourse or the critique of the Other' whose shear commonsense and indifference toward rigorous intellect marks its assimilation by the common vacuous orientalism.
